Cookie Policy

Every cookie YourFoodAPI sets on this website, what it does, who sets it, and how to turn it off.

Last updated: June 16, 2026

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They let the site recognise your browser on a subsequent visit, keep preferences, and measure usage. Some cookies are essential for the site to work; others are optional and only set after you give consent.

2. Categories we use

YourFoodAPI uses two categories of cookies on the marketing site yourfoodapi.com:

  • Strictly necessary — set by our CDN for security and anti-bot protection. Cannot be switched off because the site won't load reliably without them.
  • Analytics — set by Google Analytics 4 only after you click "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner. Withdraw consent at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.

The API itself (api.yourfoodapi.com) does not use cookies — it's a server-to-server API authenticated via request headers.

3. Detailed cookie list

3.1 Strictly necessary

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
__cf_bm Cloudflare Bot management — tells human visitors apart from automated traffic so legitimate users can reach the site even during attacks. 30 minutes
cf_clearance Cloudflare Stores the result of a security challenge so you don't have to re-solve it on every page view. 30 days
yfa_cookie_consent YourFoodAPI Remembers your choice in the cookie banner so we don't show it again on every visit. 12 months

3.2 Analytics (opt-in)

Loaded only after you click "Accept analytics". If you don't consent, these cookies are never set and Google Analytics never receives any data from your visit.

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
_ga Google Analytics 4 Pseudonymous identifier used to distinguish unique visitors. 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics 4 Session state for our specific Analytics property. 2 years

4. How to withdraw consent

You have three ways to change your mind about analytics cookies:

  1. Click the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any page on yourfoodapi.com.
  2. Clear cookies for yourfoodapi.com in your browser settings — you'll see the cookie banner again on your next visit.
  3. Use your browser's "Do Not Track" or built-in tracking-protection feature. We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals.

5. Third-party cookie policies

For full details about cookies set by our providers, see:

  • Cloudflare Cookie Policy
  • Google Cookies Policy

6. Questions

If you have questions about how a particular cookie is used, or you spot a cookie not described here, email api@yourfoodapi.com and we will investigate.
